Mirinda Carfrae has been the dominant force in women's Ironman racing for the last several years. This year, she looks to clinch her fourth World Title and put her in the rare company of athletes with virtually unchallenged domination in this sport. We caught her during a training ride on the Queen K and took some quick spy shots of her rig. There are some interesting details going on here worth a mention.

  • All smiles for the three-time Ironman World Champion. She looks ready to rock.
  • Rinny's front end. She's running two back-to-back BTA cages. There's the Profile HC Bottle pointing forwards, and a standard cage/bottle pointing backwards. And of course, SRAM eTap shifting. Interestingly, her front brake was missing part of its cover, though I'm not sure why that would be. Perhaps it fell off? She is running the Felt Dagger stem in order to use her Profile Design sponsored bars, rather than the very nice Devox Carbon bar that the IA comes with. To be fair, the Profile Design bar is also quite nice.
  • Rinny's front end. She's running two back-to-back BTA cages. There's the Profile HC Bottle pointing forwards, and a standard cage/bottle pointing backwards. One bottle on the saddle, and an aero storage unit on the frame. This will be her cleanest setup ever, and hopefully save her some precious watts on the bike. She's running SRAM eTap, and you can see a bit of exposed wire under her Profile Design aerobar.
  • Rinny had some kind of aero storage box on her Felt IA, shape-matched to the frame. I haven't seen this before, so I'm guessing this is a late-stage prototype.
  • Hang ten, Rinny! The superstar looked relaxed and happy leading up to race day.
  • Rinny was wearing Oakley's new Jawbreaker shades, with Prizm Road lenses in the very TriRig-friendly Orange/White colorway.

  • Best of luck, Rinny! Three World titles and a course record already makes you a legend, but four titles would put you in even more rarefied air.
