The 2013 edition of the Vegas 70.3 World Championships was both a surprise, given the uncharacteristic rain in the middle of the Las Vegas desert, and not a surprise, given the repeat win for the men by Sebastian Kienle and the dominant performance for the women by Melissa Hauschildt. Enjoy the gallery of riders with their steeds during the very wet bike course, not nearly as hot or dry as expected.

Sebastian Kienle

  • For the second year in a row, Sebastian Kienle dominated the competition and won the Vegas 70.3 World Championship title.
  • Scott and Zipp provided Kienle with a custom-painted rig with World Championship stripes.

Melissa Hauschildt

  • Melissa Hauschildt proved unstoppable, and stormed to victory aboard this S-Works Shiv, complete with the new Fuel Cell storage compartment. Nearly the entire area inside the main triangle is filled with material! Apparently Specialized (and now Felt) don't feel that the additional side forces in high winds will prove problematic. I wonder what they will feel like in high gusty winds.

Tim O'Donnell

  • Tim O'Donnell is on the new Trek Speed Concept, and is using both the top tube and seat tube storage compartments.

Josh Amberger

  • Amberger is one of a VERY few athletes riding the new Felt IA.

Heather Jackson

  • Heather Jackson aboard her Cannondale Slice, bue with all the logos blacked out. And she's traded her Kask Bambino helmet for a Specialized Evade. Is a change of sponsors in the works?

Andy Potts

  • Mr. Potts hung on for a fourth-place finish, just three and a half minutes behind Kienle. His Kestrel rig recently got the TriRig Service Course treatment, and we'll be posting an article about that in short order.

Craig Alexander

  • I'd say Craig had his game face on. Unfortunately he probably didn't get the result he hoped for, coming in at 19th place.
  • Some of the best legs in the business belong to King Crowie.
