The Mele triathlon shoe represents a significant effort by Giro to serve the tri market. When companies like Giro decides to compete in this space, it's ultimately the consumer who wins. And while the Mele doesn't really represent a leap forward in tri shoe design, it mostly abides by what you might call the best practices in triathlon footwear.

The Mele checks most of the features you'd come to expect from a good tri shoe.

The shoe has generous midfoot room for easy entry.

The Mele comes with three different foot bed wedges to complete its 'Supernatural Fit' system.

The sole is compatible with standard three-bolt cleats. No Speedplay-specific option.

Easton provides the carbon for the Mele's stiff sole.

Rubber grips front and rear help when walking on the shoes.

A wide, robust velcro strap makes for easy closure on the fly.

The mesh upper provides great ventilation.

As you'd expect, a nice rear loop helps with flying start shoe entry. The loop is rubber, and is easy to grip.
